~LEARNING TOGETHER: LEARNING TO BE TOGETHER ~

At Pye Bank Primary School, the curriculum supports and develops the pupils’ ambitions and aspirations and understanding of the community and the wider world in which they live. The curriculum is underpinned by enquiry based practice and is research led. Through our curriculum we aim to expose children to new experiences, including business and the world of work and research. Academic performance and the development of self (Spirituality, social, moral, physical and cultural development and mental wellbeing) are given equal importance with curriculum design. Our curriculum is designed with the key aim of supporting all children to reach their potential.

The science curriculum at Pye Bank has been designed to ensure that pupils progressively develop a wide range of scientific knowledge and skills as they move through the year groups.   Along with covering the National Curriculum objectives, we have also developed our own approach to breaking complex units and objectives into smaller steps, teaching geology within the primary curriculum and having a focus on key scientists to help Pye Bank pupils develop into competent, well informed young scientists. All pupils have weekly science lessons which enable them to explore scientific concepts in chemistry, biology and physics, while building a range of investigative skills.  Practical and investigative work is key throughout the curriculum and ensures that the ‘invisible is made visible’ to all pupils...
